Endometriosis is the number one cause of infertility in women and found in 30-50% of women dealing with infertility. While there are many different treatment options and modalities, acupuncture and Chinese medicine is a safe and effective way to treat it.

What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a gynecological condition where endometrial tissue is found in areas outside of the uterine cavity.

  • Dysmenorrhea - Pain before, during or after menstruation

  • Pain during or after sexual intercourse

Dietary Recommendations

As with all conditions, certain foods can either help of hinder your health Here are some do and don't suggestions for women suffering from endometriosis.

Foods that are good for you
  • Broccoli, Cauliflower, dark leafy-green vegetables, beets, carrots, turnips, cabbage, onions, scallions, chives, eggplant, brussels sprouts, mustard leaf
  • Walnuts and Chestnuts
  • Seaweed and Spirulina
  • Lemons, limes, peaches, raspberries, hawthorn berries and grapes
  • White fish
  • I mention this frequently, but you should try and eat organic foods as much as possible to limit your intake of harmful pesticides.
  • Eat room temperature or cooked foods
Foods to Avoid
  • Dairy
  • Greasy and fatty foods
  • Coffee and artificial stimulants
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Sugar
  • Avoid eating right before you go to bed
  • Avoid overeating
  • Avoid cold food and drinks.
Lifestyle Suggestions
  • Abdominal massage
  • Castor oil packs on the abdomen
  • Avoid sexual intercourse during menstruation
  • Use a hot water bottle or heating pad on the abdomen during menstruation
  • Deep breathing exercise/abdominal breathing
Acupuncture Treatments for Endometriosis
Two acupuncture treatments a week for the first two weeks and then once a week for the next two months is recommended. Depending on the severity of the case and changes made in the patients lifestyle,  treatments are then either stopped, spread out to every other week or once a month.
